St. Catherine’s Academy Receives Recognition for Stellar Drill Performance  Against 12 Local High schools

St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA) an all-boys Catholic School with a Military Tradition for students in Transitional Kindergarten to 8 th grade in Anaheim, CA participated in an Annual Drill Competition held at Katella High school. SCA demonstrated a remarkable performance receiving first place in six different categories and achieved second place for overall performance in the competition.

As the only elementary school/junior high school that participated in the competition, St. Catherine’s Academy performed impressive military drills against 12 high school JROTC teams in Orange County. The contest included the following categories: Inspection, Unarmed Regulation Drill, Unarmed Exhibition Drill, Color Guard, 1 Man unarmed exhibition Drill and Tap Out. During the exciting competition, thirty-five (35) cadets were part of the exciting event. Cadet Pelcak represented SCA by leading the main drill team while Cadet Sier led the exhibition
team. Cadet Cortez was responsible for the one-man exhibition and Cadet Lu led the Color Guard team and collected first place on the individual Tap out category.

SCA's military tradition program offers students a variety of activities and special programs designed to develop leadership qualities, self-confidence, and self-discipline. The drill team is part of one of the programs available for SCA which helps develop strong leadership and organizational skills. SCA’s military personnel is led by Colonel Barry Bizzell, Captain Angel Ramos and Sergeant Tyr May.
