DOMINICAN FORMATION DAY TO GATHER ST. CATHERINE’S STUDENTS AND STAFF

DOMINICAN FORMATION DAY TO GATHER ST. CATHERINE’S STUDENTS AND STAFF

St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA), an all-boys Catholic school with a military tradition in Anaheim, CA will participate in its 7th Annual Dominican
Formation Day on Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 8am-3pm. During the event, all staff and students will engage in various team building activities centered around the Dominican Charism while enjoying a day of reflection and fellowship.

There will be no classes in session on this day. More than 160 students in grades Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade and 70 staff members from all departments are expected to participate. Participants will be broken into SCA’s 4 companies – Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta. Each
company will then be designated to a Dominican Saint and will wear matching colors that symbolize a specific pillar of the Dominican charism. The four Dominican Pillars are: community, ministry (service), study, and prayer. St. Catherine’s Academy is built upon these pillars, creating a faith-filled community where students of all faiths grow in their own personal spirituality.

The day will begin with the students and staff being grouped into different teams according to their company at the school’s field or gym for team building exercises which will encourage collaboration and teamwork. There will be a series of fun exercises throughout the day led by the Dominican Sisters, military personnel and students. In the afternoon, students and staff will enjoy a delicious BBQ served by parents and the day will end with a powerful reflection in SCA’s St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel. Everyone will participate in prayers, singing and teachings
of the Dominican Saints.

“Formation Day is such an important day for the entire school to come together to learn more about the Dominican charism and the significance it has in in the teachings and work that we do at St. Catherine’s Academy,” said Sister Johnellen, OP, SCA Principal. “Our students and staff gain so much from this wonderful experience.”
