St. Catherine's Academy prioritizes campus security and student kindness to create a learning environment where each student feels safe and able to learn and grow.
Security and Disaster Preparedness
St. Catherine's Academy is a closed campus, meaning visitors cannot enter campus without being granted access by a staff member. Staff members are present 24 hours per day, and a security guard patrols campus at night as an extra precaution. Campus is fully equipped with advanced fire detection and surveillance systems.
The SCA Safety Committee meets regularly to discuss campus needs relating to safety. Among other tasks, the committee establishes plans for disasters, conducts drills, and provides first-aid training to faculty and staff.
SCA's program is naturally an anti-bullying program. Students are taught to think of each other as brothers. The Catholic foundation and military tradition help reinforce this. There is a strong emphasis on community, which is one of the Dominican Pillars guiding the school.
The military tradition groups students into companies. The success of the company depends on everyone, so students learn the importance of supporting one another. The Cadet Honor Code and Cadet Handbook emphasize the importance of kindness and respect toward others.
